Fowl Cay attractions -not only sun & beach
Fowl Cay is totally surrounded by water with several unpopulated cays within yards of its shores. The east end of the island is identifiable by a narrow and quite deep channel of fast-moving water known as Fowl Cay Cut. The owners' home, Birdcage, is on the rise just above this cut. A few hundred feet west of Birdcage lies the lovely north beach. Situated above the talcum-powder soft, white sands of this beach are three of the five rental homes on the island. The houses open onto a gorgeous view of the surrounding waters with its kaleidoscope of changing colors. Nearby, unpopulated Gaulin Cay leads to two inlets of the sea just beyond. The channel just off the north beach provides the main dinghy route between Staniel and its neighboring northern cays. On the island's highest point sits the Hill House (our clubhouse) - 40 ft above the water's edge of our South Beach. Bring your camera here to film the spectacular 360 degree view. The elevation also provides an excellent panorama of the sailboats coming into Big Major Spot to anchor for the evening, and the sunsets are what memories are made of. Hill House's freshwater swimming pool is inviting in the afternoon. In the evening, the artwork and fine furnishings from around the world make Hill House an especially lovely place for cocktails and dinner where we welcome not only our rental guests but boaters and island neighbors as well. |
